The People Behind It

Mandovi Kayaking is run by Rohan D’Souza, a Goan marine biologist who spent years working in conservation before realizing he wanted locals and travelers to see what he was trying to protect. He started offering kayak tours in 2019, hiring local fishermen as guides and teaching them about the ecosystem. Every tour includes a mini-lesson on mangrove ecology — Rohan believes you can’t love what you don’t understand.

“Triund was my first Himalayan trek, and it set the bar high. Yes, the climb is tough in parts, but the moment you reach the ridge and see the Dhauladhars up close, every breathless step makes sense. I camped overnight, and watching the stars with zero light pollution is something I still think about. If you’ve been curious about trekking but intimidated, start here.”
